Man Hit by Box Truck in Late April on UES Dies on May 9

The victim has been identified as Scott Robert Edge, a lifelong Mets fan, from Renington, NJ. The 57 year old driver of the tractor trailer truck that struck Edge on the April 29 accident remained on the scene. No charges have been filed. The family announced a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James De Fillipps on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ.

A 47 year old male who was struck by a tractor trailer while crossing the intersection of Second Ave. and E. 82nd Street succumbed to his injuries on May 9th ten days after the accident, police said.

He has since been identified as Scott Robert Edge, a lifelong NY Mets fan, who lived in Renington NJ.

The fatal accident happened shortly before 6 am on April 29. Police said they discovered him with what prove to be a fatal head injury lying in the intersection on Second Ave and 82nd St.

He was transported to New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center but died of his injuries on May 9 without regaining consciousness.

Police said the 57 year old driver of the tractor trailer, whose name was not released, remained on the scene and was not charged.

The family said a wake will be held Friday, May 19, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home, 38 State Highway Route 31 in Flemington, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James De Fillipps on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ.
