Police Search for Gunman Who Shot Man on UES
The victim was rushed to New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell and is said to be in stable condition. Police sources tell Our Town that the victim is not helping to identify the shooter.
A gunman is still at large after shooting a 20-year-old man in the chest on Feb. 28 on the Upper East Side.
The shooting appears to have happened inside the Isaacs Houses, a NYCHA project, at 1806 First Ave. and 93rd St before the victim staggered to the street and called 911 himself, according to sources. He did not appear to be a resident, however. He initially gave police a fake ID before producing one that gave his residence at an address in the Bronx. He had a gun shot wound to his upper left chest, but police were unable to get a description from the victim on the identity of the shooter.
The victim was rushed to New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Hospital on East 68th St. and is said to be in stable condition, according to a police spokesperson.
At least one shell casing was recovered at the scene, according to a source close to the investigation. The victim also had a second wound in his back, but it was not clear if was from a knife or second bullet wound.
A knife was recovered at the scene next to the victim who was sitting on a bench outside the complex when police and EMS responded.
