Battling Omars

| 17 Feb 2015 | 02:02

Omar Bouchard, the Post reports, believed in his heart that John Sampson would make a fine Brooklyn DA. He believed so strongly in this, as a matter of fact, that he'd even been putting up campaign posters.

Omar Emanuel, however, wasn't a true believer in the just cause of John Sampson. One thing's certain, though-he really hated all those posters cluttering up his neighborhood.

Emanuel allegedly asked Bouchard to remove the offending Sampson signs. Bouchard refused. There were some shoves. Emanuel allegedly grabbed a handy bottle and smashed it; Bouchard allegedly did the same.

There were a few stitches involved in the aftermath, and both men were arrested. After awhile, though, police dropped the charges against Bouchard, leaving only Emanuel looking at an assault rap.

Whether or not there was some behind-the-scenes political hanky-panky driving that decision, I can't say.
