Bloomberg's Giuliani Dodging

Whether he wants to admit it or not, Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign is gearing up. Two Mondays ago he was in Des Moines, talking about federal farm subsidies, and he's got a fundraiser for his political-action committee scheduled for June 14 in Manhattan. With his shiny 9/11 legend intact and no more unseemly paintings or police shootings to distract him, the only speed bump left on his way to candidacy turns out to be Rudy's old sidekick, Mayor Mike Bloomberg. The day after Rudy's party in Iowa, when asked if he'd support Giuliani in '08, Mayor Bloomberg gave less than the expected, fawning response, according to the NY Post: "I'll have to take a look at who is running for president when the time comes." Bloomberg saved his pledges for the next day, when he resolutely declared that if he had his way, anyone convicted of anything in New York state would have samples of their DNA taken. As the law stands, only certain felony convictions mandate DNA extraction; Mike wants to expand the practice to include all felony and misdemeanor convictions.
