Crime Blotter
Three Brooklyn women were arrested last week, and each was charged with unladylike behavior. Not that you'd expect ladylike behavior in Brooklyn, but these three were beyond the pale. Take 38-year-old Machane Washington of Brownsville. She was drinking with a 44-year-old friend early Saturday evening. It's unclear how long they'd been drinking, but somehow she got it in her head that her friend had tossed out what was left of the beer. This didn't sit well with Washington, who allegedly proceeded to pummel and strangle the suspected "Mr. Temperance" before smashing his cell phone all to bits. She was arrested on Tuesday, and whether or not the assault was justified is for the courts to decide. Also on Tuesday, a 22-year-old Dyker Heights woman named Tina Pena returned to her apartment about 1:30 p.m., where she was surprised to find her ex-roommate picking up some things she'd left behind. Pena was so surprised, in fact, that she allegedly launched herself at the ex-roommate, tussling with her a bit until reportedly pulling a knife and threatening to kill the woman. She's facing the usual array. Finally, later that same night, a 48-year-old Bushwick man was just trying to get some sleep. Then for some reason his ex-girlfriend, 23-year-old Latanya King allegedly walked in. Not just walked in, but flipped on the light switch, too. When you're trying to sleep and someone (especially an ex-girlfriend) flips on the light, it's bound to make you a little cranky. So, not unexpectedly, he voiced his disapproval. Then King reportedly whacked him right on the head with a picture frame.
