Former Bronx state senator Guy Velella has always taken more than he should have. That's why he pled guilty to bribery in 2004. Since then, he hasn't changed his ways. In court papers filed last year and made public only recently, Vellela is laying claim not only the Bronx County Republican Committee's bank account, but he's using the state party's lawyer to get it.
The attorney who filed the October 2005 lawsuit on behalf of Velella is John Ciampoli'. His address and phone number listed in the court documents are the same as the New York State Senate Republican Campaign Committee.
The number one Republican in the state said he's working "independently" from the party. The number one Republican in the Bronx disagrees either way, it's "disgraceful."
