Around roughly 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 4th, police responded to a 911 call coming from the 68th St.-Hunter College subway station. The emergency caller alerted them that a man, unauthorized and unaccompanied, was wandering down the train tracks. Upon arrival, they quickly realized that the man had likely touched the third rail, fatally electrocuting him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He had not made contact with any trains. As of presstime, the man’s identity has not been determined, nor has the medical examiner ruled on an official cause of death.

The death caused delays for the MTA 6 line, according to their Twitter page, where the agency posted that “6 trains are running with delays in both directions after emergency teams removed an unauthorized person on the tracks near 68 St-Hunter College.” They made no mention of the fact that the unauthorized person was dead.
