Midtown Mayhem: Multiple Stabbings & a Robbery Spree
ATMs are the sites of recent snatch-and-grabs.
As if the recent spate of sharpened-blade violence weren’t enough—including one man stabbed in the leg outside a Starbucks, another stabbed inside a McDonald’s, and a third knifed in the back near Times Square—there’s also a concurrent robbery spree going on.
The New York City Police Department is on these cases—don’t worry about that. Their detectives are truly experts at pattern recognition. The problem comes in figuring out who a new perpetrator might be, especially if they are transient or a recent, perhaps international, arrival to Gotham. Given that this larcenist operates unmasked, it shouldn’t be long before someone identifies him as the man wanted in connection with a Manhattan grand larceny pattern that occurred within the confines of the 13th and Midtown South precincts. Details are as follows:
Incident #1 (13th Precinct):
On Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, at approximately 2:25 a.m., a 46-year-old male victim with crutches was using an ATM at 251 E. 28th St., near Second Avenue in Kips Bay, when an unidentified individual approached him from the side and snatched $100 from the victim’s hand. The individual then fled the location on foot, traveling in an unknown direction. There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.
It will be recalled that the northwest corner of Second Avenue and East 28th Street is home to the large Grayson Apartments complex, which is itself across the street from Straus Houses NYCHA projects, former home of the alleged “Kips Bay Killer” who made headlines in July 2024.
Incident #2 (13th Precinct):
On Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, at approximately 10:30 a.m., an 81-year-old female victim utilizing a wheelchair was inside Sunac Fancy Food at 765 Sixth Ave., between West 25th and West 26th streets, when an unidentified individual approached her from the side and snatched a wallet, containing approximately $175, from her bag. The individual then fled the location on foot, traveling in an unknown direction. There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.
Incident #3 (Midtown South Precinct):
On Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, at approximately 10:25 a.m., a 66-year-old male victim was using an ATM inside 215 W. 34th St., between Seventh and Eighth avenues, when an unidentified individual approached him from the side and snatched $320 from the victim’s hand. The individual then fled the location on foot, traveling east on 34th Street, away from the notorious “Strip of Despair” (aka Eighth Avenue), where even criminals may themselves become victims. There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.
The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, likely Black. He is approximately 5-foot-10. He was last seen wearing a beige hat, dark-colored jacket, black pants, and white sneakers.
