A date between a 21-year-old woman turned into a rape assault inside the St. Nicholas Ave. subway stationg on June 14, police said.
The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the individual wanted in connection with the assault that happened within the confines of the 26 Precinct/Transit District 3 at around 7:40 p.m.
The victim exited the station after the alleged sexual assault and traveled by private means to an area hospital for treatment.
According to reports, the suspect and the victim were on a date, having met a week earlier and exchanged numbers. The woman told police the assault occurred in a restricted area of the station where she was dragged by her attacker. She told police she had had several drinks before the attack and couldn’t recall further details.
The suspect is described as a Black male, with large, muscular arms, a short chin beard and glasses.
The 125th Street station borders the 26th and 28th precincts, with Saint Nicholas Avenue the dividing line. West is the 26th, east is the 28th including Central and East Harlem.
A Tale of Two Precincts
Through the week ending June 14, the 26th Precinct has reported 8 rapes in the year to date (YTD), compared to 7 in the 28th Precinct.
For Felony Assault, however, the 26th reported 77 incidents, compared to 115 in the 28th. The 26th recorded zero murders while and the 26th has had two so far this year.
For non-felony crimes, the 26th is vastly calmer than the 28th. The former precinct has 204 petit larceny reports YTD, the latter 554. Retail theft shows an even starker divide: 35 versus 334.
East Harlem Man Missing
Cops are also seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing person indentified as Luis Javier-Hernandez, 33-year-old male Hispanic, who resides at 22 E. 119th St. This address, within the confines of the 25th Precinct between Fifth and Madison Avenues is a supportive housing building called The Veteran’s Residence.
It was reported to police that on Wednesday, May 13, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Javier-Hernandez, a male with a light complexion, 5 feet 9 inches, 160 pounds, with a thin build, brown eyes, short black hair, and a black beard was last seen leaving the residence seen leaving his residence. There is no clothing description available at this time.
