Rocker Roth Banished from Airwaves

Last Friday marked the departure of David Lee Roth's radio experiment on CBS' 92.3 Free FM. The four-month stint may have been generous considering Roth's attempt to overcome Howard Stern's legacy with a format-less show highlighted by lack-luster guests and laughing at his own corny jokes. What's most interesting about the Roth departure is who will be replacing him. Opie and Anthony, who were booted from CBS in 2002 for an on-air stunt about a couple having sex in St. Patrick's cathedral, will be filling the slot. The same show will be broadcast on both 92.3 Free FM and XM satellite radio. Is the radio market so bleak that satellite and "free" radio, sworn enemies since satellite's inception, must now band together just to survive?
