    ASPCA Central Park Dog Walk

Watch your step as you and your pooch join hundreds, myabe even thousands, of canines in Central Park to raise awareness and cash to benefit the city's homeless dog population. With live music, face-painting and other attractions for the humans in the crowd.

    Central Park's East Meadow, 9:30 a.m., $20.

For more info and to register online visit: www.aspca.org

    Sat. June 10 Belmont Stakes

Thank god for the LIRR. The party celebrating the third leg of the Triple Crown begins Friday night, and continues all day Saturday, up until the field breaks from the gate at 5. By that time, hell, you could be so drunk you won't even care who you bet on.

Belmont Park Racetrack, 2150 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont, NY, 516-488-6000; 12, $2-5, under 12 free.

Sun. June 4 & 11 Oral Sex Seminars

First one to say "this sucks" gets smacked. Yes, the jokes are too obvious. Learn cunnilingus secrets on the 4th, and advanced fellatio on the 11th. There's not much more that can be said.

    Babeland, 43 Mercer St. (betw. Broome & Grand Streets), 212-966-2120; 8, $30.

    Sun. June 18-Sept. 11 Dada

Why are things so nutty nowadays? And why is so much crap taken seriously? Much of it can be blamed on Duchamp, Ernst, and their dadaist pals, who made absurdity a virtue. MoMA's retrospective of dada stuff is the biggest the States has ever seen. Hoch Hech!

    MoMA, 11 West 53 St. (betw. 5th & 6th Avenues), 212-708-9400; $20.

Fri. & Sat., June 16-17 Summer Solstice Concert

Get your crystals all polished up, and join your sanctimonious quasi-pagan friends for the annual endless Paul Winter summer hootenanny. No matter how big his ensemble gets, he still only seems capable of playing that one damn tune.

    Cathedral of St. John the Divine, 1047 Amsterdam Ave. (@ 112th Street), 212-316-7490; 7:30 both nights & 4:30 a.m. Sat., $20-$50.

    Sat. June 24

    Manhattan Island Marathon Swim

Can you believe that there are people out there who would pay-pay!- for the privilege of swimming around Manhattan? We call them "crazy idiots."

    Battery Park City/South Cove, 6:30 a.m.

For details and entry requirements, visit: www.nycswim.org

Wed. June 28-Aug. 18 Summer in the Square

All summer long, swing by Union Square at 12:30 every day for live music of all kinds, at 5 for storytellers, at 6:30 for dance troupes, and most any time at all for that weird, creepy guy with the hangers.

For the complete schedule, visit: www.unionsquarenyc.org

Or just stop by and be surprised.

Tues. July 4 The Great July 4 Festival

Just a street fair writ large, but a pretty decent excuse to screw around for awhile before the fireworks-and about as close as NYC's gonna get to an old fashioned Fourth of July town picnic. Everyone wishes they were here in the city during the big day, it's about time you took advantage of it

Water Street (betw. Fulton & Broad Streets); Noon, free.

    July 10-14, 17-21 Restaurant Week

Pretend you have class for a few hours when fancy restaurants all over town grimace and lower their prices to (briefly) attract slobs like you and me. The gimmick this year is that, along with the $35 prix-fixe dinner, the eateries are also offering a $24.07 prix-fixe lunch. Get it? "24-7"? Yes, well, maybe you can at least convince your boss to take you out.

July 26-30 Scanners: New YorkVideo Festival

It's more obvious now than it was 10 years ago when the festival began that video is the future of filmmaking, and here's an annual bit of proof. Lincoln Center has proven themselves with an impressive lineup year after year: animation, music videos, arty crap, documentaries and features. Check this fest out to see what'll be coming out of Hollywood in five years.

Walter Reade Theater, 70 Lincoln Center Plaza (at 64th St.),

    212-875-5600, $10/$6 members.
