So sad to See You Go

The much-demonized New Times chain continues to impress us with their impact on the Village Voice.ÊLongtime editor-in-chief Dan Forst "resigned" this week, making much of the fact that his resignation had nothing to do with the impending merger of the Voice with the rapacious and Borg-like alt-weekly chain.

While some complain about this sort of thing, it makes us happy, as we'd like to see the Voice do badly, and getting rid of the stodgy crew who have made it such a bad newspaper for so long will have the perverse effect of alienating its core readers, who think the world stopped 40 years ago. We look forward to Nat Hentoff "resigning," so we can make him a big-money offer.
