State Sen. Liz Krueger suffered a mild stroke late last week and is “up and about and doing well, and a full recovery is expected,” according to Justin Flagg, the senator’s director of communications.

Krueger, a Democrat who represents District 28 in Manhattan, “is currently recuperating at home, and is in regular contact with Senate leadership and staff while she takes time to rest and recover. She and her family are greatly appreciative of the responsiveness of the staff at Lenox Hill Hospital,” Flagg said in a statement to Our Town.

Krueger was elected to the New York State Senate in a special election in February 2002. She is currently the chair of the Senate Finance Committee and is a member of the Budget and Revenue and Rules Committees.

Krueger’s virtual town hall on election security, set for Monday, April 13, from 6:30 p.m. – 7:45 p.m., will take place as planned, but the senator will no longer be participating.
