    MOSTLY MOZART FESTIVAL

    Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival returns for its 35th season (7/30-8/25) w/a stellar lineup of both established & emerging performers. This year's Festival feat. 31 concerts over four weeks in three venues & hosts 19 Mostly Mozart debuts, incl. the U.S. debut of the Venice Baroque Orchestra; the New York orchestral debuts of cellist Pieter Wispelwey & pianist Piotr Anderszewski; plus the New York debuts of trumpeter Sergei Nakariakov, Europa Gallante, soprano Susan Gritton & the Wiener Singakademie. Mostly Mozart hosts the appearance of several favorite return-artists, incl. the Emerson & Tokyo String Quartets; countertenor Andreas Scholl; violinists Vadim Repin, Christian Tetzlaff, Itzhak Perlman; pianists Leon Fleisher, Christian Zacharias, Emanuel Ax, Garrick Ohlsson, Alicia de Larrocha; plus violist Pinchas Zukerman. In the tradition of presenting musical masterpieces from the Classical period, this year's Festival examines some of Franz Joseph Haydn's significant contributions incl. the culmination of the four-year survey of the complete Haydn String Quartets & a rare performance of the composer's masterwork Die Jahreszeiten (The Seasons) performed by the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra. Additionally, the Festival examines the music of Italian Baroque w/performances featuring period instruments & a selection of rarely performed works by Antonio Vivaldi.
