Bloomingdale’s Bandits Swipe $6,000 in Clothing; UES Thief Grabs iPads from Apartment
Bloomie’s for cool clothing, a residence for a tech grab.

Fashionable Bandits Rob Bloomingdale’s
On March 6 at around 1:12pm, two individuals entered the Bloomingdale’s flagship location at East 59th Street and Third Avenue and began removing approximately $6,540 worth of clothing.
The high-rolling shoplifters then proceeded to display and spark a taser while threatening a 37-year-old male store employee before leaving the store and fleeing to the proverbial “parts unknown.” There were no reported injuries from the incident.
It’s notable that the thieves were themselves quite fashionably dressed. Whether they were stealing for themselves or to resell, their neat and stylist appearance is no doubt an advantage when they embark on a stealing spree. Both suspects, who are believed to be in their 20s or 30s, were said by police to have dark complexions and were wearing sunglasses but no mask and black sneakers. One suspect in a dark blue winter coat with a red or orange lining also wore a black skullcap. The other suspect wore the hood of his jacket up. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, on X @NYPDTips.
Thief Trying to Beat the Impending Tariffs on Imports?
Police on April 11 released video from a broad-daylight larceny that happened on Feb. 26 at about 2:17pm, when an unidentified man unlawfully entered a residential building in the vicinity of East 66th Street and First Avenue.
The exact crime-scene address was not revealed but for reference, one the four buildings on the corners of this intersection is the St. John Nepomucene Roman Catholic Church, which would seemingly be ruled out as a point of theft. The other buildings at the intersection include three apartments buildings, some of which have businesses on their ground floor.
Once inside the residence, the suspect alighted with two Apple iPads and fled to parts unknown.
Police describe the suspect as a male with a heavy build and dark complexion. He was last seen wearing all black and carrying a black shoulder bag and two shopping bags, one of which is a recyclable red Target bag.
This last part of the suspect’s equipage suggests that the Target bag may be part of a ruse to appear like your average neighborhood shopper as he makes a getaway with a bag containing stolen loot.
