Subway Stabbing on Lex Avenue Line; Jewish Hate Crime on 60th St.
Sharp instruments figure in two recent incidents.
A 57-year-old female was stabbed in the head after a verbal dispute with an unidentified individual while aboard a southbound 4 train on Jan. 6, at approximately 1:50 p.m., in the vicinity of Lexington Avenue and East 59th Street,
The suspect fled the location in an unknown direction. EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals / Bellevue in stable condition.
The individual is described as female with a medium complexion, likely Hispanic, approximately 25 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches tall with a medium build, black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a maroon puffer jacket and gray pants.
Surveillance video released by NYPD shows the woman holding her cell phone in her right hand while her left hand clasps the subway pole. The woman appears to be animatedly jawing at someone and her right leg rocks back and forth, as if ready to pounce into action.
The NYPD said it is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual being sought in connection with the assault within the confines of the 17th Precinct/Transit District 4.
Anti-Jewish Hate Crime on 60th Street
Cops are also asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the wanted suspect in connection with a criminal mischief incident that occurred within the confines of the 19th Precinct.
On Dec. 27, 2025, at approximately 12:13 p.m, in front of 47 E. 60th St., which is the address of the Grolier Club, an unidentified individual used a sharp instrument to carve an anti-Jewish remark, including “Die Thieves,” on the front door of the venerable museum and library.
A 24-year-old male employee approached the unknown individual. The individual displayed the sharp instrument, made several anti-Jewish remarks, and fled the location on foot traveling eastbound on 60th Street. There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.
This incident is being investigated by the NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force.
The sought individual is described as a white male with a light complexion. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket with the words “New York” on the front, burgundy pants, and black shoes.
Acts of antisemitism are reportedly on the rise across the city, including the recent protest outside the Park East Synagogue on East 67th Street.
