The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in ascertaining the identity and whereabouts of the individual depicted in the attached media, who is wanted in connection with an assault on the upper west side. Details are as follows:

It was reported to police that on June 19, at approximately 2:10 a.m., a 37-year-old female victim was standing at the corner of West 111th St. and 5th Ave. when an unidentified female individual approached her and engaged in a verbal dispute.

The woman then slashed the victim on the left hand with an unknown object, causing a laceration. The attacker then fled on foot, to parts unknown. The victim was transported by a private vehiche to a local hospital in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a female, heavy set, 30 to 35 years old and 5’5 in height. She was last seen wearing a Yankees baseball cap, white t-shirt, white Air Force One sneakers, and green leggings.

This corner of Harlem is one short block from both Central Park and King Towers NYCHA project, and just outside P.S. 185, Langston School. Fifth Avenue is the eastern boundary of the 28th Precinct, which extends west to Morningside Park.

Masked Scooter Bandit Steals Phone from Woman on Bench

Another “micromobility” crime was recorded on the Upper West Side.

On June 20, at approximately 10 p.m., an 84-year-old female victim was sitting on a bench in the vicinity of Park Terrace West and Isham St. within the confines of the 34 Precinct in Inwood when an unidentified individual approached on a blue scooter and snatched her cellphone from her hand.

Surveillance photos released by NYPD show a dark skinned male of indeterminate ethnicity dressed in all black, including a black face mask, save for the gray or silver design on his hoodie.

In one photo, which does not reveal even his masked face, the suspect can be clearly seen looking down at smart phone he is holding in his left hand.

The relaxed bearing of the suspect strongly suggests that he’s an experienced operator of scooters— the crime vehicle of choice for certain phone robbery gangs that have emerged since the migrant crisis of 2022.

It’s unknown if the phone is that of the suspect or the woman he just robbed.

The individual then fled the location on the scooter, traveling eastbound on Isham St.

While the surveillance photos are inconclusive, it does not appear that the scooter has a rear license plate, which, whether it is a gas or electric vehicle, is required in New York State.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/, or on X @NYPDTips.
